Start with two identified candidates
Request each vehicle’s original designation, manufacturing information and first-registration details where applicable. Keep the records with current photographs and a candidate reference. A seller may translate an original name into a familiar global marketing description, but that translation should not erase differences in the actual equipment or production period.
The GS4 year and naming guide establishes the model context. Use it to clarify whether an offer concerns an earlier GS4, a MAX description or another current China designation. The useful comparison is between identifiable cars, not two headings copied from different websites. If an essential record is missing, leave that field unconfirmed rather than reconstructing the specification from appearance.
Keep powertrain differences visible
Identify the engine, gearbox, fuel type and driven wheels for both proposals. A similar body or engine-size description can conceal a different operating and service requirement. Where an HEV is proposed, request the exact system and market information; do not treat petrol and hybrid offers as interchangeable merely because both are described as GS4 MAX.
The powertrain review separates these applications. GAC’s Philippines HEV announcement is a regional product reference and cannot prove China availability for a particular enquiry. Keep sourcing confirmation separate from specification context. Ask the customer whether the powertrain is mandatory or flexible before using an alternative to close a price comparison.
Test the same passengers and luggage
Give sellers the same normal passenger arrangement and luggage dimensions. Ask for practical opening measurements or a representative load demonstration with the required seats available. A larger folded-seat photograph can be impressive while answering a different question from the buyer’s ordinary family trip. Keep the seating and floor arrangement visible in the results.
Use the pushchair and luggage review for that task. Cabin functions, access and fit should remain individual checks on the actual versions. Do not infer that a MAX badge automatically resolves every space requirement, or that an earlier vehicle cannot meet them. The comparison should show which arrangement works and what still needs a physical demonstration.
Compare fitted functions rather than feature-list length
Ask the customer to rank the essential cabin and driver-support functions. Obtain appropriate evidence for each on both cars, including ordinary operation where a function matters. A visible screen or sensor cannot establish the entire associated feature set. Equipment added later should remain identifiable rather than being merged into the original trim specification.
The phone connection guide is useful where CarPlay, Android Auto or language affects acceptance. A regional brochure does not certify the China candidate’s software. Mark confirmed, absent and unverified functions separately. A longer list of unconfirmed features should not outweigh a shorter specification with clear evidence of the customer’s actual requirements.
Read condition and support independently of the name
For an earlier used car, review history, mileage continuity and individual inspection findings. For new stock, confirm production and registration status, storage disclosures and agreed delivery checks. A later model description does not settle those questions. Keep any recommended preparation beside its findings and responsible provider.
The service-record review connects maintenance evidence with the actual application. Parts and workshop support also need a vehicle-specific answer; the parts compatibility guide covers that separate task. A provider’s ability to service one GS4 version should not be presented as proof that every later or differently named system has the same support.
Explain the final price difference
Compare vehicle price, agreed preparation, included accessories and delivery stage on one basis. Identify what a higher amount buys in terms of verified equipment, accepted condition and support. Keep estimated operating costs separate from the purchase scope, and do not invent a resale premium or guaranteed repair saving to favour a preferred candidate.
Use the quotation checklist to retain unresolved items and material substitutions. One customer may choose an earlier vehicle with complete records, while another requires a confirmed later feature. The resulting decision should explain those actual requirements and evidence. It should not treat MAX as a universal quality score or assume a more recent-looking car is always the better purchase.
