GAC GS4 Years, Generations & MAX Names: A Buyer Guide

A GS4 enquiry can cover several production periods and market descriptions. Start with the identity of the vehicle your customer wants, then decide which differences you can accept.

01

Separate the model name from the vehicle identity

GAC is the group and international brand name you may see in an English offer; Trumpchi is also used for the China passenger-car brand. Neither wording identifies a complete GS4 specification. Ask for the original model designation, production information and a matching set of vehicle photographs. Keep those details together when comparing offers so a translated description does not become your only identification record.

02

Treat MAX as a description to verify

GAC uses GS4 MAX in its global model presentation, while its China page currently presents a fifth-generation GS4. These references help explain a search result, but they do not prove that two advertised vehicles have the same engine, equipment or body specification. Do not convert an overseas version name into a China trim without supporting records. Use the powertrain guide when a familiar name conceals an important mechanical difference.

03

Give earlier cars their own requirements

For an earlier GS4, state the accepted production period and the equipment your buyer actually needs. A first-registration date and a seller’s model-year label may describe different things. Ask for both where available and record uncertainty. New sourcing remains possible for suitable available vehicles, but broad year coverage does not mean every historical version exists as new stock. The condition comparison helps distinguish those enquiries.

04

Resolve a mismatch before selection

Suppose the quotation says GS4 MAX but the specification sheet uses a different original designation. Ask the supplier to reconcile the documents and photos rather than choosing whichever name sounds more familiar. The corrected description should identify the actual candidate, not merely a similar brochure vehicle. If the answer changes your customer’s acceptance criteria, return to the shortlist before proceeding with preparation or delivery arrangements.

05

Write a brief that permits useful alternatives

A practical request names the preferred version, accepted years, required steering position and essential features. State which items are flexible: colour may be negotiable while the powertrain is not. Ask for separate proposals when alternatives involve meaningful differences. Include the destination and quantity in your GS4 enquiry, and request that each proposed vehicle retain its own identity, condition notes and specification evidence throughout the discussion.

For a mixed-year dealer order, use a row for each candidate showing the original name, production information, registration status and the photograph reference. Mark any unconfirmed entry as unconfirmed. This prevents a correction to one car from accidentally becoming the description of every other vehicle in the batch.

If the customer provides only a reference photograph, explain which visible features matter and ask for the closest documented alternatives. The photograph can start the search, but it should not become the final specification without a supporting vehicle record.

Model references: GAC Motor China GS4 and GAC global GS4 MAX. Names and equipment require a market and production context; confirm the vehicle offered.
