Define which three people and journeys matter
Ask whether three adults travel in the rear regularly or only occasionally, and whether the customer has particular seating or access requirements. A general family label hides meaningful differences between a short urban ride and a recurring longer journey. Identify the people whose preferences determine acceptance, while avoiding unnecessary personal data in an initial enquiry. The cabin and cargo guide provides the baseline layout questions. Keep vehicle production period and fitted seat arrangement with the observations. If the supplier uses representative occupants, record which positions they demonstrate and how their result relates to the brief. Photographs can show a layout but cannot establish every user’s preferred posture or comfort. Leave that limit explicit. The dealer should not turn a claimed passenger count into a guarantee that any three adults will find the same rear bench suitable.
Preserve the front positions and every needed rear place
Establish the normal driver and front passenger settings before comparing rear use. Do not move both front seats forward solely to create an attractive rear photograph. Record which user sits behind which front position and whether the household accepts changing those assignments. Keep the centre place in the review rather than evaluating only the more favourable outer seats. Ask for observations of the intended seated arrangement and ordinary access, within the vehicle’s applicable instructions. Avoid directing improvised seating or restraint use to make a difficult layout appear acceptable. The two-driver review is helpful if front settings change regularly. A suitable result behind one driver does not automatically answer the same rear task behind another. If the required arrangement remains unrepresented, ask for evidence or direct user evaluation rather than declaring it passed from the broad model category.
Include entry, exit and ordinary belongings
Ask where the car is parked when the three passengers usually board. An open display space can conceal the access limitation beside an adjacent vehicle or wall. Note the available door movement and the actual person’s entry and exit, keeping it distinct from the seated observation. The passenger-access decision explains this movement task where it determines the purchase. Include normal coats, handheld bags and personal items without suggesting storage that conflicts with applicable safe-use instructions. The buyer may prefer a different assignment even if all three people can be pictured on the bench. Ask whether each needed place is realistically usable throughout the intended journey. If one passenger would ordinarily travel in front, record that accepted change rather than calling the original three-rear-adult brief fulfilled. Honest task boundaries let the customer decide whether a concession is acceptable.
Retain luggage with the same occupied configuration
Ask for the cases or equipment that accompany the passengers and preserve all needed seating places during the load review. A picture with the rear seat folded cannot answer this particular brief. The family-luggage guide explains the ordinary opening and loading questions, although its pushchair examples are separate from a three-adult assignment. Record bag dimensions, loading order and retrieval needs where relevant. Do not use a brochure volume as proof that a particular set fits or can be removed without changing the occupied arrangement. If a larger case is carried only occasionally, identify whether an accepted alternate trip plan exists. Keep any untested item unconfirmed. A buyer choosing between a GS4 and another SUV should see the combined passenger-and-baggage result on both, rather than one favourable seating demonstration and a different favourable boot configuration.
Separate practical preference from condition acceptance
Review the actual rear seat and related cabin findings on a used candidate, including disclosed work and the limits of the assessment. An attractive seat covering cannot establish the condition beneath it, and comfortable representative occupants cannot clear unassessed issues. For new sourcing, confirm the wanted original seat arrangement and relevant pre-delivery response checks. If the customer is comparing a GS4 with a Changan, the CS75 PLUS comparison applies the same occupied task across identified offers. Do not assume the richer trim or newer badge necessarily solves the three-adult requirement. Send the GS4 request with front settings, rear assignment, regular journey and recurring bags, and state which observations are still needed. Record the final accepted compromise if the original arrangement changes. That prevents the dealer’s later quotation from implying a supported passenger task that the available evidence never demonstrated.
Choose the next action
| Finding or requirement | Purchase response |
|---|---|
| Only outer positions are shown | Request evidence for the required centre assignment too. |
| Front settings changed for the photo | Repeat the review at normal usable front positions. |
| Bags need a folded seat | The original occupied brief remains unanswered. |
Questions buyers ask
Does five-seat wording prove comfort for three rear adults?
No. It describes a seating capacity, not every individual’s personal result. Assess the actual configuration and required occupants while following applicable vehicle instructions.
Can luggage fit be checked separately with the rear seat folded?
That does not answer a three-rear-adult task. Keep the required seats available and assess the recurring bags under the same accepted passenger arrangement.
