Start with identity and available records

Match the inspected vehicle to the proposed GS4 using the agreed identification information. Review available service records and the seller’s mileage declaration, noting gaps rather than filling them with assumptions. Ask when and by whom the inspection was performed. If the original designation is unclear, resolve it using the model identification checklist before relying on a report that may concern a similar but different candidate.

Record body and interior findings separately

Request clear exterior, cabin and accessible luggage-area photographs in usable light. Ask the inspector to document repairs, damage or unusual wear within the agreed scope and explain the evidence behind the description. Cosmetic findings and structural concerns should not be collapsed into one general condition score. Where an area cannot be accessed or assessed, retain that limitation instead of treating an absent finding as proof of absence.

Document operating observations

Include starting behaviour, warning indicators and relevant engine and transmission observations within a safe inspection process. A road test should be suitable for local conditions and carried out by an appropriate person. Ask for the conditions of the test, not just a statement that the car drives well. The powertrain review helps ensure the inspector is assessing the exact mechanical version the buyer intends to purchase.

Review cabin functions and signs of use

Check the features on the accepted equipment list, including seat mechanisms, air conditioning, windows and access to the luggage area. Ask about unusual odours, staining or signs requiring further investigation, while avoiding a diagnosis based on one photograph. The cabin checklist keeps practical suitability separate from cosmetic appearance. Record whether each requested function was demonstrated, unavailable to test or found to need attention.

Turn findings into a decision list

For each unresolved item, specify the additional evidence or action needed and who will provide it. Agree whether the buyer requires a further inspection after preparation. Keep the original observations alongside the follow-up so the change can be understood. An inspection report reduces uncertainty within its scope; it does not justify an unlimited guarantee about future operation or replace an agreed vehicle description in the transaction documents.

An inspection request can ask for a concise findings register with the area examined, observation, supporting photograph and follow-up required. This structure is particularly useful when several GS4 vehicles are reviewed together. It makes a limitation or outstanding repair visible without relying on an overall grade.

Ask the inspector to keep observations separate from explanations that still require diagnosis. A recorded symptom may justify further investigation, but it should not be converted into a confirmed cause without the appropriate assessment and evidence.
